SYC Frostbiting

Stamford Yacht Club’s Frostbiting program is evolving! 

For many years, the program utilized JY15s, which were popular in the 1990’s for their self-bailing cockpit and supposedly indestructible thermoplastic construction. Unfortunately, many New England winters ravaged the plastic JY15s, and a short-lived run of fiberglass boats was unable to bring the class back from the brink. 

So, SYC is making a change! Starting in the Spring of 2027, SYC frostbiting will have a new class of boat. If you are interested in Frostbiting, this is a great opportunity to contribute to the direction of the program.  Please email your ideas to [email protected].

Frostbiting is a great opportunity to stay active on the water sailing through the winter months! There are many ways for SYC members to get involved—racing, race committee/chase boat operations, or on the water video and photography.
